We have loved watching sisters, Julia and Libby Mathews start there venture on a facebook page, to where it is today over the past few years! We had a chat to Julia about why she’s passionate about health and wellness and how it all started! We are so inspired by these girls as they are true to themselves as well as being total #girlbosses!
Where did your love for health and wellness start?
Libby my sister was studying Naturopathy and would tell me what she learnt, I found it all so interesting. The relationship between food and how it makes you feel, what sort of impact it can have on your mental, physical and emotional health was something I wanted to know more about so started studying Nutrition when I moved to Sydney.
What are your top Health foods you cannot live without?
Bananas, mango, Kombucha and potatoes
Do you have any Health/ Beauty tips or Advice for our readers?
Drink lots of water, be in bed with the lights out by 10pm, try to exercise daily (even if it means a quick 20 min run around the block) and take your make up off before bed!
If you were to go treat yourself (Cheat day) Where would you go? & what would you have?
I have such a sweet tooth I do like balance so I do treat myself. Donuts are my favourite, Foxtrot Parlour in Ponsonby Central do the best! Petals cupcakes also make the most incredible Red Velvet cupcakes.
What was it that inspired you and your sister to start a blog?
We would make recipes that family and friends would ask us for, so we shared them on a blog site (we had no idea what we were doing) and things just grew from there. It was all very organic in the way it happened which I think is why it has been successful. I still haven’t quite got my head around the fact that people make our recipes, buy our books and come to our events. It’s all very surreal.
What is something your followers don’t know about you?
I am extremely scared of heights.
What is your favourite accomplishment to date and why?
Being asked to be an ambassador for 5+ A Day. I am a huge fan of what they do for children of NZ and the message that they share so knowing that they wanted Lib and I to be on board with them was such a great moment.
What is it, that keeps you motivated every day?
I have goals and things I want to achieve – in order to get that done I know that I have to put in work.
